Luxury Accomodation
Villa Karatavuk is not only a rental property but our second home; therefore it has been furnished and decorated to a high standard and has all the home comforts you (or at least we) could desire.
Set in landscaped gardens, this luxurious villa can accomodate 6/8 guests in 3 bedrooms including 2 en-suite WC/shower rooms, plus a separate WC/shower room on the ground floor. The kitchen is fully equipped with every modern convenience. A mezzanine floor above the dining/living area is used as a small study/library.
The villa has air conditioning installed in every room, as well as a wireless Internet connection. Satellite TV and a CD/DVD player are available. Outside there is a patio area with a built-in BBQ and a picnic table under a shady pergola, with steps down to the extensive sunbathing terrace around the large pool. |
Ideal Location
On secluded wooded slopes overlooking the charming Turkish village of Uzumlu, Villa Karavatuk is located between the famous Turquoise Coast and the magnificent Taurus Mountains. Some of the best beaches in Turkey are nearby, such as Olu Deniz and Patara.
Sailing, diving and all other watersports are just 25mins away in Fethiye. And if you're looking for even more energetic pursuits, you have a whole range of activities - from paragliding to river rafting - available right on your doorstep.
The high wooded mountains are so close you could almost touch them, hiding many almost forgotten ancient Roman/Greek sites, as well as the superb rugged scenery of the Turquoise Coast and the Lycian Peninsula; forest slopes cut with fast flowing rivers - notably the Xanthos - and deep gorges such as Saklikent.
With shaded paths and cooler mountain air, the wooded slopes around the villa are a paradise for walkers, and the famous Lycian Way is close by. This is the ideal base for visiting the ancient Lycian cities, now lying abandoned on the hills and in the valleys of the region.
You can even walk from the villa through the surrounding woods to a number of carved rock tombs from the Lycian period, over 2500 years old, scattered on the hillsides nearby. And for the more adventurous walkers, the ancient ruined city of Cadianda is waiting to be explored on the lofty hilltop just above the villa. |
Picturesque Setting
A world away from the hustle of the tourist hotspots, this is unspoilt Turkey at its best. Take breakfast out on the balcony, drinking in the view across the valley to the distant mountains. In this secluded location, you’ll hear little but the sound of birdsong and the occasional tinkle of a goat bell.
Yet the village of Uzumlu is just a short walk away through the trees and fields lower down the valley slope. Inspect the local hand-woven fabrics as they are made on the loom – you can even have your own piece made to order in a couple of days! Try some of the local specialties at one of the outdoor restaurants, and watch the world go by (slowly) as you sample the local wine.
The weekly market in the village square shows off the varied produce of this fertile valley. Before you head back to the villa, pick up a selection of kebabs, fresh vegetables and herbs for a sizzling barbecue on the terrace overlooking the pool. Don’t forget the excellent Turkish beer – and some more of the local wine.
You can finish the day watching the sunset across the valley as you dine al fresco under the pergola with the stars above shining from a jet-black sky more brightly than anything you’ve seen at home. |

Local Support
Our local agent is available during your stay to answer any queries by phone or at the office in the village. He can also advise on any activities or excursions you may wish to arrange. There is also a resident site manager. A wireless broadband connection is available if you really can't leave Skype or the email alone.
Car hire is useful but not essential. A regular, cheap bus service links the village to Oludeniz and Fethiye with supermarkets, shopping areas, banks, harbour and large selection of restaurants and tourist activities. |
